The University has officially approved the establishment of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), within the auspices of the Faculty of Engineering, effective 1 April 2005.

Concurrent with the official establishment of DMSE, the Department of Materials Science will cease to exist, .

The study plan of the undergraduate students already enrolled in the Department of Materials Science will not be affected. The new DMSE will continue to provide the courses for these students to meet the graduation requirements.
